The 2023 Legislative Session gets underway tomorrow, January 9th!  It is already looking to be a jam packed 105 day session.

As you can see below, a number of bills already have hearings in the first week.  If you want me to take action on behalf of any of these bills for SSCCLC, please let me know.

Also, we are concerned about the aging of the Gateway project in the Governor’s proposed biennial budget the push out of the timeline from 2029 to 2035.  This would allow SR 509 Phase 2 to go to bid in the 2023-25 biennium, but the SR 167 Phase 2 would be postponed until the 2029-31 biennium. We would expect this toresult in a disruption in the continuity of delivery (loss of staff, aged out permits and environmental review, potential violation of grant terms etc.). The Governor’s budget keeps the proviso language that requires the 509 and 167 projects to run parallel to each other in terms of timeline and completions, but this could be put in jeopardy going forward if this change remains.

QUESTION:  Do you want me, or someone from SSCCLC, to testify with the concerns on this when the Governor’s Transportation Budget is heard this week?  Let me know ASAP!

The ability to testify, sign in and submit written comments remains even though in-person testimony will also be taken.  To sign up to testify (whether in person or remotely) or to sign in/submit written comments on a bill, simply follow the instructions at THIS LINK.

Below is the larger bill tracking list.  If you know of a bill we should be tracking and don’t see it here, please let me know.

Once again – there are A LOT of housing bills and I don’t know what the position of SSCCLC should be at this point.  Please help me out by letting me know what you think the position should be (if any).  Particularly for those bills up for a hearing this week.
