WHITNEY STOHR WILL REPRESENT AUBURN AREA CONNECT AS MRS. AUBURN AT 2020 MRS. WASHINGTON PAGEANT

Auburn, WA, March 13, 2020 -- The Auburn Area CONNECT Chamber of Commerce shared on Friday that one of their own, Whitney Stohr, will represent the city of Auburn as MRS. AUBURN in the upcoming 2020 Mrs. Washington pageant in Olympia. The Mrs. Washington pageant is the state preliminary to the Mrs. America and Mrs. World pageants.

Stohr is the Communications Connector at the Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce and currently manages the organization's social media assets and digital communications, including weekly newsletters, blog and website. She is also involved in content development and production for events and other CONNECT programs.

Stohr received the title of Mrs. Auburn in late February 2020. Her chosen platform for the upcoming pageant is "Big Hope for Little Hearts" -- a mission-driven cause that focuses on children's health and medicine. Through her platform, Stohr will support the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals organization, including the region's local CMN Hospital, Seattle Children's Hospital.

When asked about the importance of her platform, Stohr said: "Children's Miracle Network Hospitals has an enormous impact on our communities. Each year, more than 10 million children across North America enter a CMN Hospital. Each day, CMN Hospitals treat approximately 16,200 kids with trauma, 2,329 kids undergoing surgeries, and 2,128 kids with cancer. Since 1983, the organization has raised over $7 billion dollars to help improve care and fill critical funding gaps at our children's hospitals. That's astounding!" Her platform comes from a personal place, driven by her own experience with her two-year-old son Malachi, who was born with Spina Bifida and congenital hearts defects in January of 2018. She spent over 14 months with him at Seattle Children's Hospital in 2018 and 2019.

"My son is alive today due to the medical care he received at our local children's hospital, and he is now thriving at home because we have access to a variety of important programs and supports in our community. Hospitals like Seattle Children's and community-based support programs are vital to the wellbeing of our children, their families and our communities. I'm proud to offer my support and lend my voice to sing their praises whenever the opportunity arises."

All of us at Auburn Area CONNECT are proud to have Whitney Stohr represent the city of Auburn as our MRS. AUBURN WASHINGTON.
