On October 1st, the Auburn Area CONNECT Chamber of Commerce welcomed Austin Joy, Recruitment and Outreach Specialist at Green River College, to share information about the Green River College campus, academic programs and more.
Among other highlights of the presentation, Joy discussed the benefits of a community college education, including:
- As a pathway to transfer to a four-year college
- Affordability
- Flexibility of classes
- Located close to home
- Small class size and greater individualized attention
- Flexible admissions requirements
Or, as written in The Chronical of Higher Education: "Community colleges offer students a chance to taste college close to home, with the possibility of taking courses part-time or moving easily from part time to full time and back. Students who go to community colleges tend to take out fewer loans, even when one controls for the lower tuition."
Green River College offers several degree tracks, as well as career and technical programs tied directly to industry needs. Courses are offered at the Main Campus in Auburn, the Auburn Center, the Kent Campus and the Enumclas Campus.
