The City of Auburn is embarking on an update to the Comprehensive Plan – Imagine Auburn – which considers how the city will thoughtfully accommodate growth by 2044. This plan, required to be adopted in 2024, is being completed by all cities and counties in Washington State. This is a citywide effort involving subjects such as Parks and Open Space, Land Use, Housing, Transportation, Economic Development, Climate Change, and Utilities.

Building from the previous 2015 Plan, this update will provide a general vision for the future of the community and a roadmap for the next twenty years. It outlines what the community wants to look like moving forward towards 2044, and how to make that collective vision a reality. The Plan also addresses growth requirements provided by local, regional, and state agencies.

2023 is shaping up to be a busy year for development of the Comprehensive Plan, with technical and policy analysis underway. The community’s input and feedback on the Plan, policies, and vision is important, and public meetings and activities are currently being scheduled to meet the community where they are. An Open House, free for all in the community to attend, is scheduled for Tuesday, April 25th from 4-7 PM at Washington Elementary gymnasium (20 E St NE), which is the first of multiple planned events in 2023.
