Celebrate spring with Antonio Vivaldi's iconic music. Auburn Symphony Orchestra, conducted by music director Wesley Schulz, will release a concert with the largest group of musicians yet this season. Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons featuring soloist Emilie Choi premiers Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 7:30 PM at www.auburnsymphony.org. The concert will be available for free streaming through May 8, 2021.

You've probably heard The Four Seasons before, at least parts of it. It is the most popular work of Antonio Vivaldi who is himself one of the most popular composers of the Baroque era (1600-1750). The music follows very closely the narrative of four poems which Vivaldi is thought to have written himself. For example, in Spring, his barking dog can be heard in the viola section. You can also hear the running deer in the autumn hunt and the shivery cold gusts of wind in the winter. The iconic solo violin and accompanying orchestra provide plenty of music to spark your imagination.

Violinist Emilie Choi is an avid chamber and orchestral musician based in Seattle. She currently holds the Assistant Concertmaster position at the Pacific Northwest Ballet and the Concertmaster positions with the Auburn Symphony Orchestra and Seattle Collaborative Orchestra. Emilie has appeared as concertmaster with several orchestras in Washington. She has soloed with the Hong Kong Symphonia and the Northwest Symphony Orchestra. Other professional work includes performances with Seattle Opera, Paramount Theatre, and the Canton Symphony Orchestra in Ohio.

In addition to the concert, ASO has released the next in their series of educational videos for children. The spring edition of Art Inspires Art: The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi again begins with Emilie Choi introducing the music to the viewers. Teaching artist Monica Tolas then demonstrates step-by-step a spring themed watercolor. Three seasonal videos are available now with the final installment coming for the summer. Auburn Symphony Orchestra produces this series in partnership with Interurban Center for the Arts. The videos are designed for children in pre-k and elementary school. Since they make use of materials commonly found at home, the projects are accessible to almost every child. Videos are free at www.auburnsymphony.org/learnfromhome.

Check auburnsymphony.org regularly for updates including performances and links to learning and listening resources. The Symphony is offering their concerts for free as a commitment to remain Creatively Connected to the community during this time.
